My Best Friend
I look at you
Your smile a cruel mockery of what our friendship used to be
Every thought of you is now tainted
*
Like a river that was once pure and clear
It is now foul with pollution
It kills every living thing
*
I convulse with rage
Look at what you’ve done
You’ve made me a bloodthirsty monster
*
In the end
I will be damned to hell for murder
Or I will damn myself to hell
*
It depends on...
When Time Stops
Life is a blur
Of sounds, sights, places, memories
*
I lose myself in my thoughts
Blind to the world
*
But those rare moments
Oh those precious rare moments
*
When you feel the solid ground beneath your feet
Senses alive
*
This is real
The Poetry of Sappho
Just for some background, Sappho was a famed Greek female poet from the Isle of Lesbos.
“I would rather see her lovely step
and the radiant sparkle of her face
than all the troops in their chariots in Lydia
and soliders battling in shining bronze”
-verse from The Anactoria Poem
